You nutty tart!

Nope, I'm not talking about myself (which is unusual, I know) but a recipe for something amazing my husband made - that was so lush I thought I'd share the recipe here for you. Warning; this is practically a day's calories per slice, and will certainly not help you diet. It is sexy though. 

Look at it! 

If you want to fatten yourself up with some yums here's what he put in it:

200g chopped mixed nuts
100g oats
50g dried fruit mix
50g peanut butter
50g butter
50g white sugar
50g brown sugar
2 shots of whisky
1tbsp water
2tbsp lemon juice
1 small packet of peanut M&Ms
1tsp nutmeg
1tsp allspice
1tsp cinnamon
1 blob of preserved ginger and a splash of the syrup it comes in

Get some shortcrust pastry (you can make some, which I did, or buy some, which he wanted to) and line a large pie dish and pop it in a warm oven to cook a bit (you want it lightly golden) some of those awesome little ceramic thingies would be useful here but I have none so did without.

Whilst that's in'toven get on with your jiggy jiggy filling. 

Put your butter and sugar, whisky, water and lemon juice in a big ass pan and stir over the heat until it's all melted together into a delicious, calorific syrup.

Stir in everything else and get it all coated with the goodness. Stir stir stir stir stir. 

Take your pastry base out of t'oven and pour in the filling then either pop it back in or do some kind of pastry love message for your nearest and dearest on the top like we did, because we're sort of soppy, but mostly because we love pie. 



You'll want your oven on around 180 degrees C and you'll need to leave it in there until the top is golden, then you have to let it cool FOREVER AND EVER before you can eat it or it falls apart as you try to take it out of the dish. Alternatively you can serve it warm directly from the dish. 

Either way add cream and a big fat cup of coffee and try to stick to small slices or you might have a heart attack.
